It’s almost time for one of the most anticipated weekends of the fiber year — the New York State Sheep & Wool Festival, affectionately known as Rhinebeck! I’ll be there once again with my full booth of Shetland wool, Majacraft tools, and all the stories that come along with raising a flock of fine-fleeced sheep here at Whispering Pines.
This year I’ll be in a new location — Building A, Booths 7 and 8! I’m so excited about the extra space, which will give me room to spread out all the Majacraft wheels, fiber prep tools, and plenty of beautiful Shetland wool from our flock. I’ll also have a helper in the booth this year who’s bringing her lovely handmade jewelry and stitch markers, so be sure to stop by and check those out too.
As always, my booth is a hands-on space where you can really experience wool from sheep to finished project. I’ll have:
-
Handspun yarns and millspun yarns from our flock of fine-fleeced Shetland sheep
-
Combed top in all five natural Shetland colors
-
Handmade batts, wool felted ornaments, and visible mending kits
-
Majacraft spinning wheels and fiber preparation tools ready for you to try
If you’re a spinner, bring your fiber questions (and maybe even your Majacraft wheel!) — I’m happy to help troubleshoot or demo different prep tools to find what works best for your project. I’ll also be giving quick drop spindle lessons throughout the weekend — they’re one of my favorite parts of every festival.
I love sharing what it’s like to raise Shetland sheep and turn their wool into yarn and finished items. My booth often ends up looking more like a working studio than a sales space by the end of the weekend, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’re coming to Rhinebeck, I’d love for you to stop by Building A, Booths 7 & 8 to say hello, give a wheel a spin, and feel some of the beautiful Shetland wool from our flock.
For a taste of what its like, feel free to enjoy the playlist of videos I made from last year's festival.
See you soon at Rhinebeck!
