Shetland Shawl - Jen

I wrote about this shawl last spring, I was in the final stages of completion and couldn't resist a premature blog entry. I was quite desperate at the time - thank you to all for your support. Now its done and blocked, and I am totally over it. Sort of like how after you have the baby you forget about how painful the delivery was?

I spun the wool from two different ewes, and knit it in the round. I got the pattern from Fiddlesticks, its called "Garden Flowers".

Funny story, I have been killing myself over this thing. Took with me on every sheep delivery/pickup Rich and I made for 5 years. Had it sprawled on our bed for an entire day during blocking. Blogged about it. It's been my albatross, right? So I finish it, and put it on and show it to Rich one day while he was reading a book about sheep parasites or something. He goes (I swear I'm not kidding), "Hey, that's really nice! Where did you get that?"

By the way, there is no way in heck this thing will fit through a wedding ring.

Jen that is so incredibly beautiful! Please tell me you are keeping that for yourself, you certainly deserve to, after all that hard work!

Tell Rich I saw your updates on your breeding stock...very nice. Also tell him it is time to spill the beans on your breeding groups. He is totally holding out on us. Still tempted by your gully ram lamb...he is very handsome.

Jen...the shawl is beautiful....no, it's even MORE than beautiful...I just don't have the words! How wonderful you must feel to have accomplished this! Pat yourself on the back, girl!

Rosie is doing great....still a bit shy, but we're working on that.
She's a wonderful addition to the flock! I might consider breeding her in late December or January if she grows a tad bit, but no rush....there's always next year! It's just that I have this really nice black Bluff Country ram that looks really nice or our really cute fawn gul ram....hmmmmm isn't it fun to contemplate?

Absolutely beautiful shawl Jen! Congratulations on getting it completed. That reminds me I've got one to finish too. It's been on the needles almost two years now, just waiting for me to comb and spin the last bit of wool to finish it up. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)
