What I am working on 10/14

I've been out of town all week for work, so didn't get much done during the week.  Made progress on spinning Isobel before I left, here it is not washed yet.  Still have some to card, spin and ply.

Cora's fleece is dry now and ready to begin processing.  She is a fawn Kat so will be able to make a gradient skein from her, but she doesn't have a ton of darker.  Can't wait to see how it turns out!  Rich's new pet is in the background, will blog on her later.

I also have to organize and pack my fiber festival booth, this is it piled up in the basement.  Should be fun, I love organizing!

And here is neck wool I washed last Monday when I had Columbus Day off.  I think I'm going to try to make multicolor rolags on my blending board which I haven't used yet and spin them up to make self striping yarns.  If it works, that will be a new item in next year's booth.

I love a rainy autumn Saturday morning when I know I don't have to go anywhere.

Here is what I am working on this weekend:

Adult Ram Pen

Cora's Fleece - I'll be washing this today

WNY Fiber Festival

We had a vendor booth at the WNY Fiber Festival at Emery Park in Wales, NY two weeks ago.  Its a nice local show, Saturday only.  Reconnected with a lot of fiber friends, got inspired with new ideas and tried to stay cool.  Thanks to everyone who stopped for a chat to talk about soft shetland wool!

What I am working on

Today I am washing Isobel's fleece - she is a moorit, and this is her lamb fleece.  BTW, the 2016 lamb naming theme was Downton Abbey characters.

Peg's Shawl

Peg bought yarn from us last year, and produced this beautiful shawl with it, plus a little extra from Dina I guess.  Peg also taught me what playing "Yarn Chicken" is all about.  Its v. dangerous, don't try it at home.

Absolutely lovely work, well done Peg and thanks for bringing it to the booth to share its beauty!

Lace Scarf

A friend of ours and fellow shetland sheep fancier purchased Irish Mist's fleece a few years ago and spun into yarn with angora.  She took second place at NYS Fair for yarn handspun for a garment.  Then she knit it into a beautiful lace scarf and mailed it to me.  To keep.  So lovely and such a thoughtful gift.

What I'm Working On

I'm working on Edith's fleece, spinning into yarn.  Its a nice rich black and is spinning like a dream.
